Research:

Research forms an important part of Marcus' work.  He developed an optimised physiotherapy programme for treating people with Tennis Elbow (OPTimisE) as part of a Doctoral Fellowship funded by the NIHR and CSP Charitable Trust.  He is also the lead clinical physiotherapist on the RaCeR2 Trial, the largest trial in the world of its kind, investigating rehabilitation following rotator cuff repair surgery.

He continues to evaluate outcomes for the Derby Shoulder Instability Rehabilitation Programme and has been site Principle Investigator for several large UK research trials:

- The GRASP Trial (Oxford University) investigating physiotherapy and steroid injections for rotator cuff tendinopathy

- The RaCeR Trial (Keele University), a pilot & feasibility trial assessing early activity after rotator cuff repair

- The ARTISAN Trial (Warwick University) looking at rehabilitation after shoulder dislocation.

Marcus was also a member of the independent trial steering committee for UKFroST, the largest UK study of treatments for Frozen Shoulder.
